Baby Shower Invites with Cricut

DIY weekend presents:::

It's a Girl!

No, I am not expecting. I am not even the one throwing the baby shower. But since my Cricut helped in the making of these ultra cute invitations my friend Amber is letting me post her creativity.

I can take no real credit for this project. Amber selected the cricut design, the colors and researched the cool swing card. I just helped assemble an army of baby girl turtles.

Like I said... an army. Around 40 actually. But it seemed like an army when doing them.

When using the Cricut there are some tools that I consider a MUST.

Spatula

Zig Glue Pen

The spatula helps you get your cuttings off the mat without ripping or causing them to curl and the glue pen is a godsend when you have so many little pieces.

The cartridge Amber choose for this project was Four Legged Friends. It is a Lite cartridge which means it is usually only found at Walmart. I couldn't find it on their website for sale.

Amber choose the turtle.
See all those little pieces... it took a long time to but them out and put her together. And the glue pen was a must!

In order to make the swing card Amber used this video she found called How to make a Swing Card

You can also see it at the blog Michelle's Rubber Room. Michelle has a lot of great Cricut tutorials. She loads the measurements for the swing card on the Swing Card Post.

Amber said these tools helped her create this card in multiples much easier.
Fiskars Personal Cutter

Martha Stewart Scoreboard
Amber also did not use 4x7 paper because she bought Recollections 4.5 x 6.5 card stock pack

That means she had to change the measurements a little bit.

I think it is genius to use a size that already comes in a large pack like that so I measured what she did and made a template for you too.

You score the solid line and cut the dotted lines
using these measurements gives you an inside box that is 3.5 in wide and 3 in tall

Doesn't get much cutter than that! And I have added things I need to my Cricut supply list.

Maybe you are reading this thinking... what is a Cricut?! Great question, it is a personal cutter that can be used to create cards and cut outs. It is a lot of fun!

Here is the official Cricut website:: Cricut.com
Cricut can be purchased at Michael's, Joanna's, Walmart. And all those places also sell the cartridges but my favorite place to buy cartridges is Memory Miser. They are only online, but have great sales and quick shipping.
I also have favorite Cricut bloggers like My Pink Stamper (where I learned about the glue pen) and Carpadia Design (has great cut file down loads).
